Obituary For Steven Hicks

Mr. Steven Hicks, 76, of Shelby, NC, passed away on August 28, 2026, at Atrium Health Pineville. He was born on September 13, 1949, in Cleveland County, NC, to the late Florence Hicks.

Steven graduated from high school in Rhode Island. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marines in Newport, Rhode Island, and proudly served his country from 1967 to 1971.

Steven was a laid-back, quiet kind of guy with a personality that made him truly one of a kind. He was a really cool dude who loved his kids and his grandchildren dearly. He was known for being a sharp dresser and always looking his best. Steven enjoyed attending live plays with Nancy, trying new restaurants, and simply enjoying the good things in life.

Steven leaves behind cherished memories with his daughters, Serena A’Vant and Chrissy McKenna, both of Rhode Island; his life partner, Sandra Johnson, of Cave Springs, GA; a host of grandchildren whom he loved dearly; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him deeply.

Steven’s memory will live on through the people who loved him, the moments they shared, and the lasting impression he made on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

A memorial service was held on September 5, 2026, at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel. Enloe Mortuary was in charge of services.
