Obituary For Sylvia Petty

Miss Sylvia Denise Petty, 54 years old of Shelby NC was called to our Heavenly Fathers Home on Wednesday, June 8th, 2022.

She resided at Gardens of Shelby Living Home after previously suffering a stroke in 2015 and recent Heart Attack.

She is preceded in death by her father the late Matthew Petty; a brother, Larry Littlejohn; her maternal grandmother Louise Berry and her paternal grandfather, Henry Petty.

Sylvia is survived by her loving mother Bernice Petty of Shelby. 3 sisters, Jeanette Petty, Tracy Petty of Shelby, NC and Michelle Petty-Ikard (Ronald) of Hickory, NC; one brother, Reverend Tony Petty (Marcella) of Gaffney, SC.

2 special aunts, Christine Morris of Shelby, NC and Minnie Lee McClain of Kings Mountain, NC.

She helped raise 5 nephews- Jonathan Petty, Justin O’Brian Davis, David Lowe, Alexander Petty and Jamar Petty; 3 nieces- Ashley Petty, The Late Latasha Petty, Fredricka Huskey and Kimberly Thurman whom she considered a daughter.

All of her family and friends will miss her loving smile, laughter and most of all, her heart of gold and the love she showed for each and every person she came in contact with.

Sylvia leaves behind a host of cousins and many, many friends who all knew and loved her. We would like to thank everyone for their love and prayers in our time of grief.

Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 at S.T. Enloe Memorial Chapel. Burial will take place at Sunset Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:00 PM on Tuesday and at other times starting Sunday, June 12, 2022 after 2:00 PM at 341 Preyer St, the home of her mother.

Due to the rise of Covid-19 we ask everyone to be mindful of visits. Calls and prayers are welcomed. Thank you all.
