Obituary For Thomas Meeks

Mr. Thomas S. “Troy” Meeks departed this life on Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at his residence in Grover, NC. He was born on February 8 , 1954 in Cleveland County, NC to the late Ben J. Meeks and the late Louise Hull Meeks.

Mr. Meeks graduated from Crest High School in 1973. He worked 35 years at PPG before retiring from there in 2016. He loved gardening and working in the yard. He also loved watching his soap operas and Dallas Cowboys play ball.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dennis Meeks and Benny J. Meeks and his sisters, Mahilda Meeks Brooks and Dorothy Meeks.

He is survived by his wife on 50 years, Sunday H. Meeks; daughters, Katrina Hartgrove and LaQuanda Meeks (Steve) both of Grover, NC; son, Reco Meeks (Stacey) of Shelby, NC; brother, Wayne Meeks (Brenda) of Grover; ten grandchildren, Tré Toms, Sonja Toms, Diquan Morris, Casual Morris, Isiah Meeks, Elijah Lankford, Maliyah Meeks, Zoie Lankford, Jahiem Morris and Nyvis Meeks; twelve great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Terry Hopper and Elaine Meeks; one brother-in-law, Alfred Brooks and a host of nieces and nephews who loved him dearly; cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 1, 2022 at 2:30 PM at Ellis Chapel Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 2:30 PM on Thursday and at other times at the home. Burial will take place at St. Peter’s Missonary Baptist Church.
