Mr. Timothy Lamont Ruff, 50, of Shelby, NC passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024, at Atrium Health Cleveland in Shelby. He was born on September 26, 1973, in Cleveland County, NC to Phyllis Ruff Johnson and the late Edward Williams.
Timothy was a cuddly giant with a heart of gold. He was a very outgoing and generous person. He was a big brother and uncle figure to many. He worked at Bridges BBQ and Piedmont Plastic. In his spare time, he loved to go fishing, but most of all he loved being around his family.
He is preceded in death by his father Edward Williams; stepdad, Luther “Polly” Johnson; his grand-parents Rebecca Ann Ruff Surratt, James Lova Ruff, Ernest Surratt; eight Uncles, Leroy “Rabbit” Duncan, John Arthur “Chuck” Duncan, Willie “Bo” Duncan, Jimmy Duncan, Emanuel “Toot” Duncan, Charles “Charlie Horse” Surratt, Ernest Surratt, and Harrill Ruff; four aunts, Rebecca Ann Degree, Brenda-Ann Surratt, Becky Williams, and Shirley Williams.
Left to cherish memory are his mother, Phyllis Ruff Johnson of Shelby, NC; three brothers, Luther Ruff of Waco, NC, Twan Johnson of Shelby, NC, Tydis Johnson of Warren County, NC; two sisters, Tiffany Johnson of Shelby, NC, Tacola Johnson of Charlotte, NC; a girlfriend, Sharon Phillips of Shelby, NC; three aunts, Mary “Kat” Wilson (Ernest), Charlene Surratt, Andrea “Ann” Ruff; a cousin that was like his sister, Deborah Allen; a goddaughter, De’asia McClain; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Green Bethel Baptist Church, Boiling Springs, NC, at 3:30 p.m. Reception of friends will be held from 3 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. The family will be meeting at 833 E. Main St. Shelby at other times.
