Gone too soon! I had worked with Officer McDowell on the same unit at FCC Butner, and saw him few day before he passed, never knew that will be the last day I will ever see him. Great and committed officer to his responsibilities as a correctional Officer and above it all, his bright smiles lightens the environment. He will be greatly missed. From the first day Travis signed on with us in the Air National Guard and came to our first drill, he was more than an attendee. He was a fast learner, a very cooperative team player and a kind-spirited serviceman. Never failed to make a difference in whatever capacity he was asked to serve. He had this radiant smile and a quiet manner and could be right where you needed him to be. I could count on Travis. He was an example and a leader to all subordinates. I really liked the man. He is gone too soon. May grace and peace be with the family and friends processing this loss. May his influence, kindness, and love shine on. Jesus is extending the hands to Travis at the best homegoing ever.

Travis was a treasure, friend, coworker, source of strength, support and mentor to many NCANG FSS members. I enjoyed seeing and catching up with him every drill weekend and was always greeted with a smile. He had a beautiful smile. It is with a heavy heart that I remember my dear friend and colleague, Travis. Travis was more than just a good man—he was a great leader of men, a steadfast companion, and a best friend to everyone who had the honor of knowing him. I had the privilege of serving alongside Travis in the North Carolina Air National Guard, and we deployed together to Qatar. In every moment—whether in service or in friendship—Travis exemplified courage, integrity, and compassion. He led not just with authority, but with heart, and he inspired those around him to be better, to do better. My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. May they find comfort in the legacy of love and leadership Travis leaves behind. His memory will live on in the stories we share, the lives he touched, and the example he set. Fly high, Travis. Travis, you will be missed greatly. You were my big brother from our guard journey circa 2006. we accomplished our goals together. You fussed at me but you also stood up for me. You motivated us all in whatever way we needed to get the message! I love you my brother!!

I am saddened by the sudden death of Officer McDowell. He was kind and always smiling. He never said no when you asked him for help. He will be greatly missed.

I met Travis when he first enlisted with the NCANG and we deployed together to the UAE in 2010. He was a great man and I enjoyed serving with him. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
