Mr. Vincent Edward Whitener, 44, of Shelby, NC passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 in Casar, NC. He was born on December 27, 1981, in Cleveland County, NC. He was the son of Donnia Tomlin and Clinton Louis Hill.
Vincent was known for his strong personality, his sense of humor, and his honesty. He told it like it was—often with very little filter--- but those who knew him understood that his words always came from a real and genuine place.
Vincent was a hard worker who continued to work and provide until he physically could not anymore. He believed in showing up and doing what needed to be done and that determination defined much of his life.
He had a deep love for seafood and enjoyed introducing those around him to different foods and flavors. Sharing meals and experiences with the people he loved brought him joy.
Vincent shared an 18 year bond with his soul mate, Jenise Sharpe. Together, they built a life filled with memories, challenges, laughter, and growth.
Vincent leave to cherish his memory his mother, Diane; his aunts, Jeanie (James), Marylene, Gertrude , and Joan; uncle, Curtis; brother, Rodney (Yareska); and best friend, Daniel, along with many extended family members and friends.
He was the father of four children, Raquan, Vincent Jr. , Ava, and Noah. While life was not always perfect, Vincent did the best he could and loved his children in the way he knew how.
He is lovingly remembered by his special friend, Dolly.
Vincent’s presence, personality, and spirit will be remembered by those who knew him. His story lives on through his children, family, and the memories shared by all who loved him.
The family will be meeting Wednesday, April 8th-Friday, April 10th from 3:00 PM until 7:00 PM at 1635 S. Dekalb St. Apt. 104 Shelby.
A memorial bar-b-que will be held on Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 1-4 p.m. at Hanna Park - Magnolia Pavilion.

My prayers are with you all. I remember Vincent from a little boy. He & my son ( Jermaine ) would go to each other's home and played Nintendo all day. He was a sweet boy & always showed respect. I called him "Little Vincent " . My son Jermaine was hurt of his passing he sends love & prayers to the Family. May GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
