Mrs. Wanda Elizabeth Banks, 65, of Shelby, NC, passed away on Monday, September 30, 2024, at Atrium Health Lincolnton, Lincolnton, NC. The family will be receiving friends at 2326 China Avenue, Shelby, NC daily.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Dallas Banks; parents, John Dexter Ellis, Jr. and Mary Lois Huddleston Ellis; siblings, Rodney M. Ellis and Gwendolyn R. Whittington; her sisters-in-law, Ollie “Peanut” Banks and Ingrid M. Ellis; nephews, Toby B. Brown, Jr. and George H. Cooper, III; and nieces, Tammy R. Ellis and Monica R. Ellis.
She is survived by, to preserve her memory, her sons, Dallas D. Banks, Sr. Shelby, NC and Cryst C. Banks (Bronx, NY); her precious grandchildren, Jamarra A. Hopper, LCpl Sha’Ron “Shaun” Burton (USMC-Jacksonville, NC), PFC Lisa Smith (US Army-El Paso, TX), Dallas D. Banks, II, Hannah Aliyah Banks, and Nashon “Tinka” Gray (Orlando, FL); her adored great-grandchildren, Jayhonna Hopper and Jayceon Strother; her god-son, T.J. Robinson of Richmond, VA; her siblings, Ronald Q. Ellis (Rockville, MD), Brenda Ellis-Riddick, Dawna Covington (Mechanicsville, VA) and Renee Kim Ellis Carthorne (Shelby, NC); her sister-in-law, Virginia Holland (Tyrone) of Fort Washington, MD; her brothers-in-law, Rev. Joseph E. Whittington (Capitol Heights, MD) and Larry W. Shelton (Mechanicsville, VA); her canine companion, Flag; along with a host of other family and friends.
A memorial service in her honor will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m. at Destiny Life Center Church Annex, where Bishop Marcus Strong is Pastor. The church annex is located across the street from 1404 Woodman Hall Street, Shelby NC, on the corner of Woodman Hall and Cameron Streets. The family will be receiving friends at 2326 China Avenue, Shelby, NC daily.
I miss my friend..you left and didn't say goodbye Wan. I know you are resting and at peace..continue to rest in peace and know that I love you..you were and still are family..I love you Trish, TJ and G-KIDS
