Two 17 year olds, Roy Mackey and I, met the first day of freshmen room assignments in 1962. Tuskegee Institute in the 60's was the beginning of a friendship that has continued through the years. Roy has always demonstrated compassion, the necessity for discipline, radiated commitment and motivated others with his outstanding intelligence and work ethic.
Superior academics, athletics and Sunday chapel service were collegiate characteristics. Roy always took the time to be right.
Our condolences to the loves of his life, Bertha and family. We cried when told of his passing. We will forever be thankful for the love and friendship that our families continue to share.
Hilrey and Pat Randolph

Though I didn't know Roy too well, we would always talk in passing (I'm his neighbor). He would always greet me with a warm hello, he would tell me about how much he loves his wife, that they were married for over 50 years. He would always say hello to my baby boy & tell me it goes by too quick & to enjoy it while it lasts. His warm aura & energy will be greatly missed. Seeing him was always a great start to our day. Sending prayers to all of his family. Love, Kat, Richard & Baby Kai
