MR. CECIL TYREE PHILLIPS, son of the late Carter Phillips, Sr. and Ersaline Hayes Phillips was born October 8, 1955 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia and departed this life on February 2, 2026 in VCU-MCV Hospital in Richmond, Virginia.
At an early age he was baptized and joined North View Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Park View Senior High School.
Cecil was married to Oberee Brown Phillips and to this union one child was born. He was employed by Mecklenburg Correctional Center for over 20 years until he became disabled.
In his spare time, he loved to eat snacks, watch TV, play with his great grands, solved crossword puzzles and joke with people.
Cecil leaves to mourn a daughter- Michelle Crute; three grandchildren-Shaantae Roberts, Ellisa and Marcus Crute; three great-grandchildren- Liliana Minor, Logan and Mason Crute all of the home; two brothers- Carter (Mary) Phillips, Jr. of Brodnax, Virginia, and Marshall (Rosa) Phillips of South Hill, Virginia; a sister- Charlene (Reverend Jimmy) Dews of South Hill, Virginia; three aunts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
The family may be visited at 644 Boxwood Road, South Hill, Virginia.
