Mr. Eric Mark Hayes, son of the late Janet L. Baskerville Hayes & Eric Wayne Hayes, was born on April 16, 1979 in South Hill, VA & peacefully departed this life on June 21, 2026, at VCU Medical Center, Richmond, VA.
Mark, as he was affectionately called, was baptized at an early age at Free Union Church, Bracey, VA. He attended Park View High School.
On August 27, 2014, Mark was united in holy matrimony to Ashley Skinner.
In his younger years, Mark was known as “the didn’t give a care child”, who would take everything apart even though he couldn’t put it back together. Mark cherished the coming together of family & friends. He had a love for music, cut hair as a hobby, told jokes as if it was his paid profession, had a gift for cooking & was a true N.Y. Knicks fan!
Mark was employed by Wendy’s, Bojangles, but Denny’s is where he became creative and put his true cooking skills to the test. He later went on to cook at Brian’s Steakhouse, 313 Restaurant and Pine View Assisted Living Facility. But his greatest meals were prepared in his Grandmother’s kitchen for him, her, & whomever stopped by.
Mark leaves to cherish his memory: his wife- Ashley, six children- Tyler Winkler, Antoine Williams, Brayden, Alexis, Eric, and Ryan Hayes; one grandson- Cameron Williams; his grandmother- Mertis Baskerville; his father Eric (Darlene) Hayes; three brothers-Alphonso (Jennifer) Pamplin, Wayne (Diana) Hayes, and Ayden Wilkerson; one sister-Erica Hayes; four uncles- Carl, Gerald, Jeffery (Sandra) Baskerville, and Gordan (Renea) Johnson, four aunts- Gwen Hite, Barbara (Richard) Harris, Betty (Victor) Harvell, and Gloria Baskerville; three great aunts- Frances Jones, Eleanor (Rev. Willie) Tisdale, and Mildred (Nate) Bing; four nieces- Aysia, Braelyn, Ashantae & Kweazhaa; five nephews- Brandon, Anthony, Jaden, Cameron, and Christian; a devoted and lifelong brother- Minister Brian Dagner; caretaker- Gladys Day and numerous cousins and friends.
