When I start to talk about the lady that helped me on my journey. She stepped in when my mother wasn't there and helped me, if it wasn't for her I wouldn't have been able to do a lot of things while in school, if it wasn't for her excepting me as one of her own I wouldn't have gained a close friend in her son not knowing all along she was a close friend to my mother. This woman helped instill values in me, to help me become the man I am today and I thank her for all that she did. To my brother Ray, I say this: God blessed us to have her for as long as we did and we have to be thankful for that. She has no pain no more sorrow she's in a better place. Days ahead are gonna be hard and she'll come to you when she needs to. Linda she's always there. You know she want you to be strong. Keep your head up, lean on God look at him for your strength. The fight is over for her. Our fight still goes on, the struggle to weather the storm but there's always light at the end. In your moments of despair give her a smile and let her know that it's OK cause she's there. Love y'all Tony Hayes

My deepest condolences to you and your family! Mrs. Everlin was a patient I had the pleasure of taking care of in Georgia at a long term care facility a few years back. She absolutely touched my life and soul in so many ways! She was an absolutely amazing God fearing woman who loved with all of her heart and soul and she was an amazing mother and friend! She knew I had a hard time with a death of another patient, and one day I walked into her room and she beckoned me towards her..she told me she had a gift for me and she hoped it made me feel a little better. She handed me a packet of Splenda, and I was confused..she told me to turn it over and read the word printed on it, it said, "SPARKLE"..I was still confused..she said, "Baby, I know it's not much, but you need to know that you are an AMAZING nurse and friend, and I wanted to give you this because of what it says..when you come into a room, you absolutely SPARKLE and light up our lives! You are such a sweet person and you are so kind and loving and silly and you make our time here so much more wonderful! I know you have been down about your other patient passing away, but know that you did your absolute best and that it was just time for her to go because God was calling her Home and it was NOT YOUR FAULT! You need to rejoice, knowing that she is with the Lord now, not suffering and she is happy and I know she is proud of who you are and everything you have done for her and for so many other lives that you have absolutely touched in soooo many ways! Remember Baby, you SPARKLE and I love you and she loved you and ALL of your patients love you! Do not be sad or dwell on the sadness any longer..give it to God as I have taught you and rejoice! Let's pray together Baby." Mrs. Everlin took my hands and we prayed together as I silently cried happy tears with her. Mrs. Everlin was more than a patient, she was a beautiful woman with a beautiful heart and soul that touched my heart and soul in every way possible! I will never forget how many days she prayed with me, mentored me, and occasionally fussed at me(to make me laugh or see things in a different light). She kept me grounded. She was my friend, my confidant, my adoptive mother (next in Line to Ms. Linda, of course!) and my spiritual guide. She touched me in ways that cannot be forgotten or ignored. Mrs. Everlin and her daughter, Ms. Linda, BOTH touched my life in sooo many positive, amazing ways! I looked forward to seeing BOTH of them as much as I possibly could during my shifts. It was the highlight of MANY of my days. I could tell her anything and she could tell me anything, and our friendship was more than BEAUTIFUL! Mrs. Everlin, you will be greatly missed, but NEVER forgotten! You and your family have always kept in touch and have always prayed for me and I have always prayed for you guys. Your family means the world to me!! I love you sooo much Mrs. Everlin!! I will meet you on the other side when God allows me. Since you beat me there, please tell my sister and my son how much I love and miss them as well(my sister already knows ALL about you..we spoke often of you and the great woman you ALWAYS were! I know she is looking forward to seeing you and meeting you in person for the first time! Keep my son in line for me..and hug him for me, Mrs. Everlin). I love you so much Mrs. Everlin! May you rest in peace in the light of the Lord. Until we meet again, my sweet, beautiful friend/adoptive mother! Always remember to SPARKLE..I have not stopped sparkling ever since you gave me the Splenda packet and told me to ALWAYS SPARKLE and to never let anyone EVER steal my gift of SPARKLE that God gave me when He created me!
