MS. FAYE LAVERN CRENSHAW, beloved daughter, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love, strength and kindness, on August 5, 2025, in VCU-Community Memorial Hospital, South Hill, VA. She was the daughter of Essie Rogers Crenshaw and the late Arthur L. Crenshaw, born December 7, 1957, in South Hill, VA. Also preceded her in death was her daughter, Julia Crenshaw, whose memory she held dear to her heart.
Faye spent a good portion of her life in South Hill, VA. She was baptized at Jerusalem Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Park View Senior High School. The family later moved to New York City; where she stayed for several years before moving out on her own to Neptune, NJ. After years of making her home in NJ, she decided to move back to South Hill and remained until God called her home.
Faye was known to many as a wonderful cook. Her food always brought smiles to her family members and the many customers at her workplace, Wilson Bros. BBQ.
Those who knew Faye will remember her for her warm spirit, her resilience through life’s challenges, and the way she always put family first. She had a gentle strength that inspired those around her, and her laughter brought light into every room. She will be deeply missed but never forgotten, as her legacy lives on in the hearts of those who loved her.
Faye was a devoted mother to her son, Anthony Crenshaw and her stepson, Junius O’Neal; the proud grandmother to Iyonna and Jawan Crenshaw; she welcomed Anthony’s longtime partner, Pam Haupt as her daughter. She was the cherished sister to Carolyn Phillips and brothers, Frankie, Thomas, and Michael Crenshaw. Her love and compassion extended beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of her brother-in-law, Ernest Phillips and sister-in-law, Betty Banks and a host of nieces, nephews, aunt, uncles, cousins and friends who will forever hold her memory close.
GOD BLESS the family give the strength peace To be absent from here and be with God what rejoice God continue to give them strength love you all , the family love you Sarah Davis
