MS. GLORIA DINE GARNES, daughter of the late Robert Lee and Ida Wilson Garnes was born July 28, 1948 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia and entered into eternal rest on February 17, 2026 in CJW Medical Center, Richmond, VA. She was also preceded in death by her siblings- Robert Lee Garnes, Willie Herman Garnes, Milton Garnes, Melvin Garnes, Dorothy Lena Garnes, and Bessie Garnes.
Gloria was a 1966 graduate of East End High School. After graduation, she relocated to Newark, NJ, where she worked several jobs before becoming General Manager of White Castle Systems. She was employed for over 20 years before retiring.
In 2005, Gloria moved back to Virginia. She was an avid member of the Kingdom Hall of South Hill and Clarksville, VA until her health began to decline. She had a smile that would brighten any room. She was an avid reader and she passed the love of books onto her family members. Spending time with family and friends was very important to her.
Those left to mourn her loss and treasure precious memories include: two daughters- Tahirah (Abdulraheem) Muslim of St. Albans, NY and Melissa Walker of the home; four grandchildren- Khalil Williams of South Hill, VA; Shaheed Williams of Victoria, VA; DeQuan Williams whom she reared and Robert Bowley, Jr. both of the home; brother- John Wilson of Jersey City, NJ; two sisters- Barbara Oliver of Victoria, VA and Vena Chavis of Richmond, VA; devoted friends- Vince, Wanda, Florence and Diane, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

My sincere condolences to the Garnes family. Gloria was a classmate of mine. I remember her being very shy. I saw her at a few class reunions and noted that she wasn't as shy. I know she will be missed. God will grant you comfort and strength during this time in your life and will continue to bless you. Just call out to him.
