MR. JAMES JUNIOR JONES, affectionately called “Kiddie,” son of the late James Edward and Estelle Beauford Jones was born April 29, 1954, in Brunswick County, VA and departed this life July 1, 2025, at his residence, in Brodnax, VA. He was also preceded in death by a brother- Kenneth “KC” Jones.
He was baptized at an early age in Lawrenceville, VA and attended Brunswick County Public Schools.
James later moved to New York to seek employment and extend his education.
In 1976 he met Vernice Grace Fletcher. Later in 2003 they were married and to this union three children were born.
James attended Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Church in Lawrenceville, VA.
He was employed by Good Wood Products, South Hill, VA from 1988 until his retirement in 2011.
In his spare time, he enjoyed playing his drums, gardening, playing ball with the boys and visiting his neighbor.
James leaves to mourn his devoted wife- Vernice Fletcher Jones of the home; 5 children-Ernest White, South Hill, VA; Shawn White, Madison, WI; Doris (Kingsley) Chukwukeme-Wright, Justin and Tray Fletcher, all of the home; 6 grandchildren- Rytavious and Markesa Collins of Raeford, NC; Shonda White, Franklinton, NC; LaDasia White, Jusiah and Kaemen Wright, all of the home; 5 great-grandchildren- Makenzie Flanigan, Madison and Madalynne Johnson, Marley Flanigan and Mason Collins; 2 brothers- William “WC” (Dianne) Jones, Richmond, VA and Jessie Jones, Lawrenceville, VA; sister-in-law, Terry Pettus, Woodbridge, VA; 4 brothers-in-law, Belvin (Gladys) Pettus Fresno, CA; William and Michael Pettus, both of LaCrosse, VA and David (Karla) Pettus, South Hill, VA; devoted friend- Deacon Alfred Baskerville and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
