DEACON JOHN EDDIE JACKSON, son of the late Eddie David Jackson and Nora Cousin Jackson was born July 1, 1938 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia and departed this life October 5, 2025 in VCU-MCV Hospital, Richmond, VA.
At an early age he was baptized and joined St. Luke Baptist Church. He attended Mecklenburg County Public Schools.
Later in life he became a Deacon of the Church and was the oldest Deacon of the St. Luke Baptist Church #2. He was a member of Grand United Order of Odd Fellows, Hayes Chapel Lodge #8123 where he was Past Noble Father. In December 2012 he received honors for 50 years of extraordinary dedication to this order. He was also recognized by St. Luke Church #2 for Senior Citizens Day in April 2000 for 50 years of service to the church.
John Eddie was employed by J.B. Transportation Company, Keysville, VA for many years until his retirement.
In his spare time, he had pleasure in reading the newspaper, supervising any and everybody…no matter what it was, and he enjoyed gardening.
John Eddie leaves to mourn a son- John Lee Stone (Angela Feggins) of South Hill, VA; three grandchildren- Brianna Feggins and Jontre Stone of South Hill, VA, and Sherisha Feggins of Durham, NC; brother- James Allen Jackson of Brooklyn, NY; sister-in-law, Alma Jackson of Dover, DE; children he help reared- Dannetta Winn, David Jackson, and Leon Stone; devoted friends- A. L. Jones Barbershop Crew; his uber drivers- Kenneth and James Stone, Alvin “Lil Bit” Garnes; Mr. & Mrs. James and Shirley Stone Daniels; CaMari “his boy” Feggins; Sarah Stone Davis, Curtis “Toothpick Man” Tisdale; Eugene and Kathleen Rainey and Minister Melvin and Dorothy Rainey, and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
My condolences to the Family. Mr. Jackson was fun to be around, laughing and joking. You always came and visit my Mother in Union Level. Now you can visit her in Heaven. May you continue to Rest in Peace!!! 🙏
