JOYCE MARIE BASKERVILLE COTMAN, daughter of the late John Floyd Baskerville and Rose Marie Brown Baskerville, was born February 20, 1951 in Mecklenburg County, VA and departed this life August 15, 2024 in Johnston Willis Hospital, Richmond, VA. She was also preceded in death by her sisters- Thelma Bragg and Margaret Johnson; brother-in-law, Robert Reed and sister-in-law, Audrey Baskerville.
At an early age she was baptized and joined Lombardy Grove Baptist Church. Joyce was a 1970 graduate of the former East End High School, South Hill, VA. She then further her education and graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), Richmond, VA in the healthcare field as a Registered CNA.
Joyce was married to the late Allen Nathaniel Cotman in which she gained an extended family.
Joyce worshipped with St. Douglas Baptist Church, Courthouse, VA under the pastorship of Reverend Loretta Bailey.
Joyce later retired in 2016. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, watching movies and “face timing her children and grandchildren.
Joyce leaves to mourn a son- Stephen (Samantha) Baskerville, Chesapeake, VA; two grandchildren- Elijah and Dominic, Richmond, VA; step-sons, Michael and Antonnio Cotman, Richmond, VA; four step-grandchildren, Antonio Jr., Mekhi and Tyson Cotman, Jalen Williams; one sister- Deloyd Reed, Chesapeake, VA; five brothers- John C. Baskerville, Richmond, VA; Clarence (Julia) Baskerville; Vance (Sheryl) Baskerville all of South Hill, VA; Paul L. (Mary) Baskerville, Desota, TX; Floyd (Vaness) Baskerville, and Stanley Baskerville all of South Hill, VA; four sisters-in-laws, Maccie Johnson, Luethel Craddock and Ann Tabbs, all of Charles City, VA and Hattie Evans of Toano, VA and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
