MS. MAMIE ELIZABETH CRADDOCK TALLEY SIMMONS, affectionately called “Tasey” transitioned from her labor to reward on Thursday, May 19, 2022 at 5:47 PM at the home of her daughter, Tabitha, after a very brief illness with all of her children providing around the clock care. She was born January 10, 1947 to the late James Allen Craddock and Mamie Mary Anna Bridgeforth. She was also preceded in death by her daughter- Veronica Beatrice Talley; siblings- Emma Sue Carter, Francis Shearin, Christopher, James, Cleveland, and Wallace Craddock.
“Tasey” was educated in the Mecklenburg County School System and furthered her education in Philadelphia, PA at OIC, Penn State University, and North District Congress. She migrated to Philadelphia, PA in 1971 and returned to her home town of South Hill, VA in 1981 and again in 2017 as she had always planned.
Her work history included School District of Philadelphia, SEPTA, Merion Golf Club, Pagano’s and Knife & Fork Restaurants to name a few. In her most recent employment, she provided healthcare for Bishop John L Jessup, Jr. in the comfort of his home until he transitioned to glory.
All who knew Mamie or “Tasey,” shared her contagious energy and loved her presence, as she would always show up when there was a need--“JUST A SWANGIN!”
Her life and memories will forever be cherished in the lives of her children-Melissa Talley-Palmer, Marietha and Tabitha Talley, Nannette Wilson, and Quentin Talley, all of Philadelphia, PA; her sister- Dorothy Mae Phillips-Miller of Florida; 37 grandchildren and great-grands; a devoted friend- Arthur Lee Lewis, South Hill, VA, who was at her bedside until her demise; many step-children and a multitude of children she adopted and cared for including her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who loved her dearly.

Ms Mamie's spirit exuded Authenticity, Faithfulness, and Love. She LOVED her family and all those she considered family. I admired her for being a genuine, fun loving soul who shared her personal relationship with God proudly. I often heard her say, Ain't No Shame In My Game!!🥰🥰 I am a BETTER WOMAN for having to have crossed her path.
