MRS. MATILDA BLONDE WILSON JIGGETTS, was born March 25, 1941 to the late Louida Wilson and the late John Rose of South Hill, VA and departed this life March 20, 2020 in Jersey City Medical Center RWJ Barnabas Hospital, Jersey City, NJ. She was the youngest of eight children. She was also preceded in death by her siblings- John Albert, Lawrence, Esther Liunis, Sarah, Virginia, Isabel and Ana Lou; nephew-Danny Wilson, niece-Sharon Wilson Rowlette Cooper, and a great-nephew-Lt. Cpl. Lamont N. Wilson. Matilda was baptized at an early age and was a faithful member of Gethsemane Baptist Church. Matilda was educated at John Groom Elementary School and an East End High School graduate of 1960. She also received her beautician’s license from Jerry’s School of Beauty. Matilda was married to Lawrence Jiggetts and they were blessed with three children. She later moved to Newark, NJ and later Jersey City, NJ for better employment opportunities. Matilda joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Jersey City, NJ. In 2013 she joined World Changers Church International/World Changers Church New York with her daughter, Shandra already being a member since 1986. They worshiped under the pastorship of Pastors Dr. Creflo A. and Taffi L. Dollar. Matilda was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter Lady Miriam, Red House and White House. She will be missed by her family and friends for her jokes, cooking, and love for knowing all of the commercials and her witty encouragement. Matilda leaves to cherish her devoted husband- Lawrence Jiggetts; two sons-Quinton Wilson and Lawrence “Lonnie” (Mary) Wilson; devoted daughter and caretaker- Shandra M. Wilson Jiggetts; two grandchildren- Shamier Yates and Riomaine Branch; great-grandson- Jayden Branch; sister-in-law, Lucille Jiggetts, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
