Obituary For Max Baer Boyd "Moon"

INTERMENT: First Baptist Church Cemetery, East Atlantic Street, LaCrosse, VA
MAX BAER BOYD, affectionately known as “Moon,” the son of the late Washington Lee Boyd and Nannie Bell Hendricks Boyd, was born on May 11, 1936 in Mecklenburg County, VA. He peacefully entered eternal rest on August 9, 2025, at Twin Lakes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, South Hill, VA. He was also preceded in death by his sons- William Henry and Frank Boyd, and his siblings- Mary Harris, James Boyd, Gene Boyd, Caldwell Boyd, Robert Boyd, Dorothy Valentine, Helen Valentine, and Catherine Hawkins.
At an early age he joined St. Stephen’s RZUA Church. He attended Mecklenburg County Public Schools and devoted his life to farming and agriculture.
Max was united in marriage to the late Annie Elizabeth Northington and together they raised three children- William Henry, Patricia Diane and Tammy Marie, and cherished son, Frank Boyd, Jr., as his own.
Moon was a beloved fixture in his community- a hardworking farmer, avid hunter and fisherman, and a gifted storyteller whose tales always ended with laughter. He was known for his signature pipe and suspenders. He lived a life rooted in faith, family, and the simple joys of country living.
Left to cherish his memory: two daughters- Patricia Boyd of South Hill, VA and Tammy Jackson of Keysville, VA; daughters-in-law, Paula Boyd and Bessie Boyd; eight grandchildren- Kristin Boyd (Ian), Kevin King, TaKesha Jackson, Tiffany Jackson, Kendra Boyd, Ashly Jackson, Frances Boyd, and Jahlia Boyd; nine great-grandchildren- Ethan Boyd, Makayla Eanes, Kristopher Boyd (affectionately known as “Goat”), Kamari Boyd, Trenton Bennett, Noah Chambers (affectionately known as “Kicking Mule”), Lennox Bennett, Xavier Lockett, and Cole Chambers; his loving sisters- Barbara Valentine, Judy King, Wilhemenia Stanley, and Nora McQueen, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord and now Moon has found sweet rest and peace in the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
