A LIFE WELL LIVED
MOTHER BEATRICE GOODE BASKERVILLE, received her wings and joined the angles at the age of 96 peacefully in the early morning hours, Monday, March 2, 2026, at her son, Deacon Alfred and Reverend Sharron Baskerville’s home, Brodnax, VA.
Mother Beatrice was born in Boydton, VA on December 11, 1929, to Laura Simmons and Gust Goode. She was the second oldest of eight sisters; all of whom preceded her in death.
At an early age she was baptized and joined Venture Grove Baptist Church, Bracey, VA. Mother Beatrice was the oldest member there and she was in worship service every Sunday and Sunday School. Oh, how she loved Vacation Bible School. The love she had for her church and her Pastor was phenomenal.
Beatrice was married to the late Deacon Alto Baskerville. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor and a true friend.
In her spare time, she loved to work in the yard, watch her favorite TV Shows, and go fishing. What she adored the most was every day at 4:00 PM, she would watch her great-grandchildren get off the school bus.
Mother Beatrice leaves to cherish her memory: her 5 children- Deacon Alfred (Rev. Sharron) Baskerville of the home; Wilson Alexander of Greensboro, NC; Annie Alexander of Baltimore, MD; Martha Givens of Greensboro, NC, and Richard (Davette) Goode of East Orange, NJ; 13 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; her bonus children- Rev. Leo & Sister Mattie Thorpe, Floyd Bennett, and Sarah Noel; her handyman- Roy “Crop” Jones; her devoted friends- Mrs. Rebecca Wilson, Mrs. Frances Jones and Ms. Josephine Alexander, and a host of other relatives and friends.

To Alfred and Family so sorry to hear of ur loss. May God bless u and comfort you during these difficult times❤️
My condolences to the Baskerville family on the passing of your love. Prayers and hugs to your family!
Sending our deepest condolences to Alfred(Rev. Sharon) and family. Praying God will continue to strengthen you during this time of bereavement.
His compassions, they fail not. They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness. Lamentations 3:22-23 No one can prepare you for a loss; it comes like a swift wind. But take comfort in knowing that Mother Bea is now resting in the arms of our Lord. We will miss her smile and her lemon pound cake. Know that you all are in our prayers and that you are loved. Pastor Leo Thorpe and family
To Alfred and family, We all need time to grieve. Quiet time for reflection to sift through the memories and come to grips with what happened. We all need time for tears, not for the ones who are now at peace in heaven, but for ourselves as we realize that things will never be the same. We all need a time to just sit so we can open ourselves to God and let the reassurance of his everlasting love start to heal our broken heart hearts. Take all the time you need to grieve. It's ok to cry and mourn, never let anyone tell you anything different. Remember, even Jesus wept when he found out that Lazarus died (John 11:33-35). Sending peace that passes all understanding, Love that conquers all and the Blessings that God has promised you.
My sincere condolences to the Family of Mother Baskerville.
Our staff will continue to keep your family in our prayers. We thank you for allowing us to serve your family.
