Obituary For Mr. Henry Arthur Staples, Sr.

Mr. Henry Arthur Staples Sr., affectionately called “Hank”, son of the late Samuel Staples, Sr. and Allie Mae Staples Luster, was born February 4, 1946 in Mecklenburg County, VA and departed this life unexpectedly on August 12, 2021 at his residence in Richmond, VA. He was also preceded in death by a son- Henry Staples, Jr. and his siblings- Robert Staples and Jacquelin Ross.

He attended East End High School in South Hill, VA. After graduation he went to be a great mechanic working on cars, trucks and heavy machinery.

He loved to fish, bowl and dance to James Brown. You could catch him singing “This Is a Man’s World” trying to hit the smooth moves of Mr. Brown himself. He enjoyed being around family, making memories and having a good time.

Henry leaves to cherish his memory two children, his son- LeKeith Staples and daughter- Jasmine (Derek) Lundy; four grandchildren- Derek Lundy Jr., Shavon Harkless, Sade Staples and Zi Kei Staples; one great grandchild- Karter Harkless; his siblings- Samuel (Deidra) Staples, Jr., Gilbert (Deloris) Luster, Delbert (Carolyn) Luster, and Anthony (Lucy) Luster, sister-in-law, Emma Staples, brother-in-law Woodrow Ross and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other friends.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, August 29, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Mimms Funeral Chapel 1827 Hull Street, Richmond, VA 23224
