Nancy G. Hinton departed her life on Wednesday, July 23, 2025 at her home. She was born on October 5, 1957 to Florence Howell and the late James C. Hinton “Bubba”, in Mecklenburg County, VA. She was preceded in death by her Pops- Freddie Hite Sr., brother- James Emmanuel Hinton and nephew- Jarrell Hinton.

Nancy received her education in New York and was a 1975 graduate of James Adams High School.

At an early age, she accepted Christ as her personal Savior, and became a member of Roanoke Chapel Christian Church, Palmer Springs, VA.

Nancy’s career journey started in New York, NY at Burger King on 125th Street. She went on to pursue cosmetology for a few years, but later discover that the chemicals and her did not agree with each other. She went into banking at the Bank of New York for approximately 17 years in Lower Manhattan, NY. She moved to Virginia in the late 90’s and pursued a career with Warren County Correctional Center in Soul City, NC until health issues arose. Nancy became a Financial Mortgage Officer for SunTrust Mortgage. She later retired from Pendleton Seed in Kenbridge, VA until VCU Health Systems (Community Memorial Hospital) brought her out of retirement to the last career as a switch board operator who answered every call with a SMILE that could be felt through each call she answered until her last call.

Wow what a shock when we heard about Nancy. She was very kind and always so sweet. She was always asking do they have Brussel Sprouts in the cafeteria because she loved her Brussel Sprouts. She was always so cold natured too, we'd be hot and she'd be freezing, she'd almost look like an Eskimo (Lol). I don't think I ever saw her without a smile on her face. Always a kind word to everyone. She will be missed so much. Prayers to her family especially her mom.

Ms. Nancy, you will be truly missed. I am going to miss your warm smile. You always took time to come over to my desk and ask how I am doing. You had a loving heart and it truly showed. When I heard about you passing, it broke my heart. God surely got an angel.

To all of Nancy's Family and Friends, I know words seem hollow at such a time as this, but I have worked very close to Nancy over the last several years at CMH. Nancy always wore a smile and greeted each and every one of her fellow team members each and every day with a kind word. She never missed anyone in the department. Everyone received a greeting and a smile. I will forever remember her sweet and kind interaction with her co-workers each day. Nancy treated people calling into the switchboard with the exact same kindness. When she took a call on the switchboard she always made sure whatever they were calling in for they were treated with the utmost kindness and professionalism. She never let a person go off the phone line until she knew she had answered their question, found them an answer or connected them to their loved one's room. May God grant you peace in your time of loss. Know you are in my prayers. I will truly miss Nancy but she has left some wonderful memories in my heart. I love you Nancy, thanks for sharing a portion of your life with me, you will never be forgotten.
