MRS. NANCY ADELE WINCKLER HAYSLETT, daughter of the late Donley and Annie Eva Farrar Winckler was born December 30, 1925 in Baskerville, VA and departed this life March 25, 2020 at her residence. She was the fourth of ten children.
At an early age she was baptized and joined Sharon Baptist Church. She was educated at Cedar Grove School.
Nancy was married to Douglas Joyner and to this union three children were born-Raymond, Barry, and Brenda. Barry and Brenda preceded her in death.
Later in life she married Walter Hayslett, Sr. and to this union three children were born- Walter, Jr., Tammy and Patrice. They raised all six children in Brooklyn, NY.
In her spare time she studied to be a switchboard operator while working part-time as a crossing guard.
After thirty-six years of marriage, Walter passed and she decided to move back to her home town of Baskerville where she remained until her passing. She reaffirmed her faith with Sharon Baptist Church and she was a member of the Sr. Choir and the Missionary.
Nancy leaves to mourn four children: Raymond Joyner, Tammy, Patrice, and Walter Hayslett, Jr.; 13 grandchildren, four of whom she reared, Shanikki Joyner, Idesha Fox, Brittany Randolph, and Omar Joyner; numerous great-grands; three siblings- Marie Johnson, Robert Winckler, and Dorothy Evans, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
