RUSSELL ELDRED WILLIAMS, affectionally known as “Elp,” son of the late Russell Claude and Elizabeth Phillips Williams was born February 16,1958 in Bracey, VA and transitioned to his eternal reward on August 5, 2024, at his residence in Henderson, NC. He was also preceded in death by a brother- Maurice Williams and stepson- Quintin Tucker.
At an early age Russell attended St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Union Level, VA. He attended Mecklenburg County Public Schools.
After high school, he met and was joined in matrimony to the late Barbara Ann Tucker and to this union he inherited two children- Shelma “Lil Bit” and Quintin “Dick” Tucker.
Throughout the years Russell was employed with numerous jobs, starting in construction and later working for many years for S.T. Wooten. Prior to his health beginning to decline he was employed at Trulite Glass and Aluminum of Henderson, NC.
Russell was an avid gardener, enjoying tending to his garden. He also enjoyed working on his cars. He loved fast cars and his favorite was his red 1969 Ford Cobra in which he called “Road Runner.” His other past times were hunting, and he adored fishing, no matter what time of year it was. He enjoyed cooking and he loved to eat.
Russell had an infectious smile and a heart of gold, always ready to lend a helping hand. When he shared a story, he would be talking so fast that we would have to tell him to “Slow down so we could hear what you’re saying.”
To know Russell was to love him. He loved spending time with his family and friends and that physical BOND, we will miss.
