John my friend. I really don't know where to start. It was second grade at Elm Street where we first met...you played football and I was a cheerleader ( Apache) and our friendship carried us through Rome Middle, Rome High, and University of West Georgia. Eventhough we did not speak often after college I followed you on Facebook and made sure you were good. You always looked out for me in college and was always just such a good guy. My heart is broke and I am praying for your family...Lakisha McMichael

No words can help ease this pain. As I just received this sad and unexpected news today about a very good friend, co-worker, and UWG alumni my heart breaks. I had the pleasure of getting to know John P at Kids Peace and he was just a one call that's all kind of guy when it came to helping keep the kids on the units straight and in order in the most humble but I mean what I say way. Life is so different now and we never know the day or hour and we don't expect to hear this about a great and legendary man like John. I send my deepest and heartfelt thoughts, prayers and condolences to all the family and friends of John W. Perkins. May God give us all strength and understanding during this unexpected and unforseen time. Weeping may endure for a night but Joy comes in the morning!! Sending much love - Melissa Walker
My deepest condolences to the entire Perkins family. Paul Pascoli

To the Family of Mr. John Perkins: You have my deepest sympathy in the homegoing of Perk. I met him at West Georgia while he was playing football. I so enjoyed watching him play and when they played away games I listened to every one. I loved hearing them call his name. He had no idea the impact he had on the lives of so many around him. While we will miss him dearly on this side I'm glad to have had the opportunity to meet him. May God comfort you in your loss as He is our Comforter. Hold those memories of Perk close to your heart and be thankful for the time you had with him!!! Much love.
John(Busta)!!! My heart is heavy, and I am truly still trying to process this thing called death. In my eyes, you exemplified what it meant to be a gentle giant and a King who walked amongst this earth. My fondest memory of you will always be when we lived in West Rome Projects on Brookwood and I would always see you outside swinging that baseball bat. I knew right then and there that you would leave an everlasting mark on this world. While your earthly body may no longer be with us, your spirit and the memories you left behind will always be! Rest Easy Young King! Will see you on the other shore someday. -Love Always, Mikey Jones
