Carolyn Rose Crutchfield was born in Princeton, Kentucky on June 22, 1942 to Willie and Ella Collier Crutchfield.
Her early years were spent in Wyoming, Virginia, and then Lebanon, Tennessee, where she was baptized at the Market Street Church of Christ. She finished High School in Tampa, Florida, before attending Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee.
While in Nashville, she met and married Arthur Finley, of Rome, Georgia. After completing their college educations, they moved to Akron, Ohio to start a family. In Akron, they raised two children, daughter Cheryl and son James. While there, she also worked in Banking, Aerospace/Defense, Early Education, Retail, and Transportation, until unofficially retiring at the young age of 42 to support her husband in a corporate expatriate assignment in Luxembourg.
In 2004, she moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee with her husband and her mother.
Carolyn was an amazing woman; caring, private, inspiring and encouraging with a thirst for knowledge and a gift of staying out of other folks’ business. As a mother, she was the chief inspirer, chauffer, academic mentor/tutor and nurse.
She transitioned on April 12, 2022 at the age of 79, in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
She is survived by her husband Arthur, daughter Cheryl, son James, and granddaughter Madeline, aunts, and a host of cousins, in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
The funeral service and burial are reserved for family and close friends of the decedent and her survivors. Properly worn masks are required of those invited.
Public viewing is a F. K Jones Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, April 18, 2022, from 5pm to 7pm. Properly worn MASKS ARE REQUIRED.

To Arthur and Family: I remember yours and Carolyn's warm hospitality when I would visit you all when I was working at Mount Union College, as it was then called, in Alliance. Though the years have piled up since those days, nothing can erase the warm memories I have of you both. I met you both through your Detroit relatives, the McDonels: "Aunt Bert," Ronald, Ricky, Greg and "Neet-Ann." May God bless and keep you and your family in His loving arms.
