LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Spirit of Liberty Christian Fellowship, 2841 Louisiana Ave., Lafayette, LA for Mrs. Betty Jean Celestine, 76, who entered eternal rest on Sunday, August 18, 2024 surrounded by her family in Lafayette, LA. Interment will be Zion Travelers Baptist Church Cemetery in Sunset, LA.
Rev. Rubin will be officiating the funeral service.
Mrs. Celestineβs memories are being cherished by: her loving husband of 57 years, Leroy Celestine; her children, Gerard Celestine, Stephanie Alfred (Ottis) and Laderia Semien (Justin); her grand-kids, Raven Bellard, Brooklyn Alfred, Blair Joseph, Victoria Williams, Gloria Alfred, Ottis Alfred Jr, Kaylyn Alfred Sr, Damon Collins, Gerard , Jaboria, Cassidy Celestine, Amya Nickerson and Tristen Henry; her great-grandchildren, Tylon, Channing, Janayiah, Aydreah, Aalyah, Kingston , Ayvah, Khole, Kaylyn Jr. Micah and Elizabeth; her siblings, Nathalie Pierre, Sadie Mae Tuner and Linda Richard, all of Houston, TX, Gloria Sinegal of Lafayette, LA, Earline Richard, Charles Richard and Kenneth Richard, all of Sunset, LA; Harold Richard Of San Diego, CA one sister-in-law Sharlene Pierre (Albert) of Lafayette LA; Two brothers-in-Law, Paul Celestine and Leroy Celestine, both of Lafayette, LA; two special friends who she loved dearly, Andrea Charles and Cithy Siner; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
She is preceded in death by: her father and mother Andrew and Virginia Richard; her sister, Rose Mary Richard; two nieces, Yvette Brume and Rosanna Celestine; two great grandsons, Tayven J Alfred and Payton Alfred; her father-in-law and two mothers-in-law, Leroy Celestine Sr., Roseanna Celestine and Rita Chassion; her sister-in-law Virgie Mae Celestine; four brothers-in-law, John Celestine, Charles Sinegal, Jaes Olan Pierre and Marshall Lewis.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Spirit of Liberty Christian Fellowship.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadian and their staff for their unweaving support in care for their Dear Betty Jane and Dr. Steven J. Saccaro and the staff of Ochsner Cancer Center of Acadiana.
