CHURCH POINT - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Church Point Pentecostal Church, 800 S. Main St., Church Point, LA for Mrs. Della Fontenot Handy, 74, who entered eternal rest on Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Lafayette General Hospital. Interment will be in Our Mother of Mercy Cemetery #2 in Church Point, LA. Pastor Rick Hardwick will be officiating the funeral service. Mrs. Handy leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Idela White (Alfred) of Church Point, LA; three brothers, Jonathan August (Alegra) of Church Point, LA, Roland Thibodeaux (Chris) of Austin, TX and June Thibodeaux of New Orleans, LA; three grandchildren, Shanel Smith (Jessie) of Lafayette, LA, Shalen McNulty (Ron) of Sunset, LA and James Handy (LeQuell) of San Antonio, TX; two great grandchildren, Logan and Morgan Smith; a host of grandchildren she help raise; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Mrs. Handy was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph J. Handy and her parents, Agnes F. Johnson and Emory Johnson. Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Church Point Pentecostal Church.
