Obituary For Donald Ray Rubin
OPELOUSAS – A Celebration of Life will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. on Friday, May 22, 2026, at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home for Mr. Donald Ray Rubin, who entered eternal rest on Monday, May 12, 2026 at Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Opelousas, LA.
Mr. Rubin’s memories are being cherished by: his two sons, Donald Rubin, Jr. and Donavon Latigue; two daughters, Lathedral Rideaux of Opelousas, LA and Martha Shakesnider; three brothers, Davis Williams of Opelousas, LA, Richard (Jenny) Rubin of Beaumont, TX and Patrick (Vanessa) Rubin of Alexandria, LA; four sisters, Linda Pickens, Debra Fontenot (Glenn) and Sheryl Rubin, all of Opelousas, LA and Shenita Mason (Charles) of Lafayette, LA, ; and a host of grandchildren, two great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by: his wife, Anna Rubin; his parents, Aden and Anna Sonnier Rubin; and one sister, Judy Anderson.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the Staff of Heritage Manor Nursing Home.

Add A CondolenceHave you ever met someone who you felt you known all your life , well that was Donald Ray ! Yes he was one of a kind but like you had Ben knowing all your life ! I met him when he move in at the home 5 doors up from my room ! We instantly became friends. We would walk the floors at night together, those sleepless nights when Sleep doesn't come yet you restless with yourself and you run across somebody just to talk to and we enjoyed each other's company in our times of pain and for him his last days Indian he couldn't talk, but we look at each other and we understood and known his last day as I watched him sleep away. I said to him. I'll see you on the other side. I'll never forget he gave me a thumbs up two week to raise his arm, but saw his hand resting on his chest with the thumbs up sign and gleam in his eyes as he pee of what I figured was the last things he was looking at, and he knew his life was at an end ! when we first met, we traded candies like two school kids such simple things in life can create such profound memories.
