Obituary For Elma Rae Freeman
OPELOUSAS - Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA for Ms. Elma Rae Freeman, 64, who entered eternal rest on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at Tri-Community Nursing Home in Palmetto, LA. Interment will be in Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.
Brother Sylvester Manuel will be officiating the funeral service.
Ms. Freeman leaves to cherish her memories: three brothers Lee Alfred Freeman (Ethel), Zachary Freeman (Alma) and Joseph Freeman Jr. (Florence), all of Opelousas, LA; three sisters, Jessie Freeman of Baytown, TX, a special sister who was Elma’s devoted guardian, Christana Freeman Richard (Randolph) and Gloria Freeman Semien (Joseph), both of Opelousas, LA; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and of course the tons of friends she made along the way.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, Joseph Freeman Sr. and Chriselia “Sweet” Comeaux Freeman; four brothers, Ernest, Jiroy, Claffry and L.C. Freeman; and a sister, Crilly Freeman Bivins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home.

So very sorry to hear this- I just loved Elma and was so happy to have been her instructor at ODC many years ago. Was so glad to get to work with her again before the Center closed.
