Funeral service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, November 26, 2022, at St. Mark Baptist Church in Plaisance, LA for Mr. Floyd Stephens, 83, who entered eternal rest Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at The Calcutta House / Hospice of Acadiana in Lafayette, LA. Interment will be in St. Mark Church Cemetery in Plaisance, LA.
Rev. Jason Rubin will be officiating the funeral service.
Mr. Stephens was a member of St. Mark Baptist Church where throughout the years he served as a Sunday school teacher, church secretary and member of the church’s Deacon Trustee Board. He taught in St. Landry Parish School System. He was a civil servant for 40 years which included military service and an educator with St. Landry Parish schools. Floyd worked at T.H. Harris Vocational School as a Guidance Counselor and later as the Assistant Director.
Mr. Stephen’s memories are cherished by his loving and devoted wife, Roma J. Francis Stephens of Plaisance, LA; three sons, Glenn (Stephanie) Stephens of Opelousas, LA, Floyd Patrick (Patricia) Stephens of Lafayette, LA and Douglas (Crystal) Stephens of Mt. Olive, AL; two daughters, Lillian Michelle (Steven) Castille of Carencro, LA and Tonya (Andre) Bowman of Baton Rouge, LA; one sister, Martha Marie (Lee) Williams of Missouri City, TX; twelve grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Willie and Lillian Stephens, Sr.; three brothers: Freddie, Willie, Jr. and Wilmer “Blue” Stephens; and seven sisters: Selena Daniels, Essie Frank, Lessie Jones, Emily Joubert, Anna Mae Pitre, Ella Mae Batiste and Lou Wilda Thierry.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022, from 9:00 am to 10:45 am at St. Mark Baptist Church.
