OPELOUSAS – Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home of Opelousas, LA for Mr. George Alexander, Jr., 85, who entered eternal rest on Monday, August 31, 2020 at Opelousas General Health System. Interment will be in Greater Union Baptist Church Cemetery.
Rev. Patrick Lavergne, Pastor of St. James Baptist Church, will be officiating the funeral service.
Mr. Alexander leaves to cherish his memories: five sons, Warren Alexander of Opelousas, LA, Vaniel Alexander (Cathy) of Cedar Hill, TX, Patrick Alexander (Marilyn) of Baton Rouge, LA, Clifford Alexander (LaTron) of Deridder, LA and Willie Fontenot, Jr. of Opelousas, LA; three daughters, Yolanda Newell (Eddie) of Humble, TX, Antoinette Boutte' (Jeffery) of Opelousas, LA and Cynthia Coleman (Reuben) of San Antonio, TX; three sisters, Pearl Kennerson and Verlee Andrus (Ervin), both of Opelousas, LA and Genevieve Backus (James) of Florence, SC; a sister-in-law, Verlia Alexander of Opelousas, LA ten grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, George and Sedonia Davis Alexander, Sr.; four brothers, Cefous Alexander, Marshall Alexander, Sr., Clemon Alexander and Clifford Alexander; and four sisters, Lovenia Blanchard, Lillian Kennerson, Celestine Coleman and Thelma Keys; and his long time companion Marian Juba Fontenot.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 5, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home.
