Obituary For Jimmie Joseph Richard

PORT BARRE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 4827 Hwy 103, Port Barre, LA for Mr. Jimmie Joseph Richard, 78, who entered eternal rest on Monday, September 29, 2025 at his residence in Port Barre, LA. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery in Port Barre, LA.

Fr. Clint Trahan will be the celebrant at the Mass of Christian burial.

Mr. Richard’s memories are being cherished by: his wife, Mrs. Charlotte Richard of Port Barre, LA; two sons, Perry (Cassandra) Fontenot of Newport News, VA and Dwayne (Monica) Fontenot of Opelousas, LA; two daughters, Angela Durousseau (John) of York, PA and Francis Gabel (John) of Plaisance, LA; three brothers, Paul Richard and Antoine Richard, both of Port Barre, LA and Martin Richard of Houston, TX; five sisters, Elvina Murray of Sulphur, LA, Annie Malveaux of Washington, LA, Theresa Stroud of Kansas City, KS, Esther Johnson of Harvey, LA and Bernadette Thomas of Port Barre, LA; ten grandchildren, Carrington, Cartrell, Jay, Colby, Justin, Jeremiah, Adriana, Syleena, Makenzie and Sasha; five great grandchildren, Paisley, Chloe, Metztli, Koda and Briley; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Junius and Elnora Richard and two brothers, Alcide and Joseph Richard.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 7:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church. A rosary will be recited at 8:45 a.m.
