Obituary For Joseph Morris Semien

OPELOUSAS – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26, 2026, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, 732 N. Union Street, Opelousas, LA for Mr. Joseph Morris Semien, 66, who entered eternal rest on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at St. Joseph’s Carpenter House in Lafayette, LA.

Fr. Justin Arockiasamy, SVD will be officiating the funeral mass.

Mr. Semien’s memories are being cherished by: his three daughters, Dr. Brittany Christopher (Joseph), Brandy Leah Noel (Jeremy) and Katilyn Jade Semien; two sisters, Joyce Ann Semien (Ronald) and Mary Bernadette Jackson (Earnest); one brother, Ronald Lavergne; significant other, Gladys Joseph; four granddaughters, Micha Christopher, Winter Christopher, Harper Christopher and Kamille Henry; one Goddaughter, Robin Lavergne; nephew and niece, John David Semien, Jr. and Evashti C. Jackson; and a host of relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by: his mother, Mary Elise Semien; brother, John David Semien, Sr.; and grandparents, Marshall Joseph Semien and Elnora Marks Semien.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited starting at 9:00 a.m.
