OPELOUSAS, LA — A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas, Louisiana, for Ms. Joyce Richard, age 81, who entered eternal rest on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at AMG Specialty Hospital in Lafayette, Louisiana. Interment will follow at Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas.
The funeral Mass will be officiated by Fr. Joshua Munterim, SVD.
Ms. Richard was a devoted and faithful member of several organizations and ministries, including the Saint Joseph Society, the Legion of Mary (Spouse of the Holy Spirit), Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary Court A, member of SVD (Society of the Divine Word) Choir, Singles and the Job Ministries.
Ms. Richard memories are being cherished by: one son, Andre Carron, Sr. of Opelousas, Louisiana, and one daughter, Monica Hicks (Shannon) of Beckville, Texas; three brothers, Wilbert Richard, Sr. and Rickey Richard (Dena), both of Opelousas, Louisiana, and Joseph Wilson Richard of Augusta, Georgia; one sister, Mary “Jeannie” Gradney (Rev. Bobby Gradney) of Carencro, Louisiana; seven grandchildren, Ryan Carron (Blanca), Ashley Robinson (Cory), Andre Carron, Jr., Mya Carron, McKenzie Carron, Jaleel Bourque, and Trey Carron; eleven great-grandchildren, Carson Carron, Carter Carron, Celest Quezada, Lailah Carron, Issa Carron, Kori Robinson, Jehlani Bourque, Dion Robinson, Brandon Bourque, Kinzley Bourque, Ta’ Niya Galloway; along with a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Clement and Lillian Richard; three brothers, Lee Richard, Clifton Richard, and Joseph L.C. Richard; two sisters, Antoinette Zachary and Catherine Richard; and sister-in-law, Mary L. Richard.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 7:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home.
