OPELOUSAS-Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at True Fellowship Baptist Church, located at 2822 Highway 167, Opelousas, LA for Mrs. Laura Lou Mickens, 83, who entered eternal rest on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at her residence in Opelousas, LA. Interment will be held in True Fellowship Church Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.
Rev. Todd Jones, Pastor of True Fellowship Baptist Church will be officiating the funeral service.
Mrs. Mickens leaves to treasure her memories, one son, Troy Mickens of Opelousas, LA; two daughters, Stacey Mickens and Donna Smith (Ambrose), both of Opelousas, LA; one brother, Ivory (Elizabeth Lamb) Young, Sr. of Palmetto, LA; three sisters, Betty Brumfield of McComb, MS, Lessie Young and Orelia Castille, both of Opelousas, LA; eight grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis James Mickens, one son, James Everette Mickens, her parents, James and Olivia Young, Sr., two brothers, James Young, Jr. and Curley Young, Sr, and two sisters, Jessie Solomon and Mildred Jones.
Visitation will be on Saturday, March 21, 2026, from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at True Fellowship Baptist Church in Opelousas, LA.

Momo it hurts me seeing you on a obit. You had so much time left on earth if u only came to Texas with me you would still be here but I know you happy with papa and uncle Everett. Make sure yall save me some space because we will meet again. I always told you I love you everytime me and Quincy would come see you. My life will never be the same without my gourgous. I can be happy of the memories we shared never once disrespected you. I will keep your memories alive momo and I will continue to keep you happy gourgous.
