Obituary For Lawrence Paul Batiste

OPELOUSAS – Funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2025 at Community Chapel Church of God In Christ, 1606 W. College Ave., Opelousas, LA for Mr. Lawrence Paul Batiste (affectionately known by his family and friends as “Bat”), 52, who entered eternal rest on Sunday, December 14, 2025 at his residence in Opelousas, LA. Interment will be held in Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.

Rev. Frank L. Ford, Pastor of Community Chapel Church of God In Christ, will be officiating the funeral service.

Mr. Batiste’s memories are being cherished by: his mother, Beverly Rubin of Opelousas, LA; his spouse, Kandid Batiste of Opelousas, LA; two sons, Rasheen Aggison and Traylon Batiste, both of Opelousas, LA; two daughters, Bailey Batiste of Lafayette, LA and Cynthia Alicia Thomas of Dallas, TX; bonus children, Demarcus Daughtery, Eli Mott, Elizah Mott, Kaden Mott and Kaydence Mott, all of Lafayette, LA; one brother, Lawrence Jowayne Oakley of Opelousas, LA; two grandchildren, Ty Jamarcus Hardy and Tiah Marie Hardy, both of Plaisance, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by: his father, Lawrence Rubin; paternal grandparents, Robert and Florine Smith Rubin; maternal grandparents, Buster and Emma Richard Batiste; mother-in-law, Eveline Sam; Godparents, Joseph and Betty Roberts; and his Godchild, Kyria Davis.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:40 a.m. at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home.
