Obituary For Leonard Thomas

PORT BARRE – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, August 17, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Port Barre, LA at 11:00 a.m. for Mr. Leonard Thomas, 63, who entered eternal rest on July 25, 2024 in Baton Rouge, LA. Interment will be in St. Leo the Great Catholic Cemetery in Leonville, LA.

Fr. Clint Trahan will celebrate the mass.

Mr. Thomas’ memories are being cherished by: his four daughters, Shanika Thomas, Marie Thomas and Lucretia Thomas, all of Houston, TX and Chelsey Savoy of Lafayette, LA; four brothers, Robert Thomas, Jr. of Arnaudville, LA, Melvin Thomas and Larry Thomas, both of Port Barre, LA and John Thomas of Opelousas, LA; four sisters, Clara Mae Thomas, Mary Lavenia Gilyard and Mary Bernadette Thomas, all of Leonville, LA and Marie Pickney (Tracy) of Opelousas, LA; one grandson and three granddaughters; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by: his wife, Sonya Thomas; father, Robert Thomas, Sr. and mother, Dorothy Mae Thomas; one brother, Alvin Thomas; two nephews, Scott Thomas and Kendall Pickney; one brother-in-law, Phillip Gilyard; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Thomas and Barbara Thomas; and paternal and maternal grandparents.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
