OPELOUSAS - Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at St. Francis Regis Catholic Church for Mrs. Marie “Madee” Sonnier Tyler, 89, who entered eternal rest on Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Opelousas General Health System. Interment will be in St. Leo the Great Cemetery in Leonville, LA.
Father Travis Abadie will be officiating the funeral mass.
Mrs. Tyler leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Alfred Sonnier of Baton Rouge, LA and Junius Robert Sonnier of Lafayette, LA; three daughters, Connie Marcel (Henry Pascley), Octavia Sonnier and Mary Comeaux, all of Breaux Bridge, LA; a special friend, Tommy Broussard of Breaux Bridge, LA; one sister-in-law, LouBertha Sonnier of Sunset, LA; thirteen grandchildren, Melissa O’Neal, Tyson Tyler, Brittany Clement (Marcus), Donald Tyler, Sydney Marcel, Jessica Sonnier, Jarmius Sonnier, Jacob Sonnier, Diamond Sonnier, Clarissa Sonnier and Jhonaus Marcel, Courtney Hayes and Desiree Vicknair; fourteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by: her husband, Onezime Tyler; her parents, Joseph Abraham Sonnier and Ida Henry; two sons, Clarence Sonnier and John Tyler; one daughter, Hazel Sonnier; five brothers, Albert Sonnier, Clifton Sonnier, Wilton Sonnier, John Sonnier and Philbert Sonnier; seven sisters, Lorena Keys, Irene Auzenne, Aline Sonnier, Lillian Davis, Octavia Auzenne, Edna Sonnier and Evaline Sonnier; and one great grandson, Marcus Clement, Jr.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 17, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at St. Francis Regis Catholic Church
