GRAND COTEAU – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, LA for Mr. Michael Smith, 61, who entered eternal rest on Thursday, May 8, 2025 at Acadia-St. Landry Nursing and Rehabilitation in Church Point, LA. Interment will be in Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.
Fr. Mark Kramer of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church will be officiating the funeral mass.
Mr. Smith’s memories are being cherished by: his brother, Glenn Smith of Opelousas, LA; three sisters, Linda Smith (Charles Anderson) of Lewisburg, LA, Carla Alexander (Warren) of Opelousas, LA and Shelia Thibodeaux (John) of Church Point, LA; three aunts, Dorothy Babineaux and Doris Laday, both of Houston, TX and Shirley Lavergne (Ferdinand) of Opelousas, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by: his wife, Suzanne Smith; his parents, Joseph and Anna Lou Laday Smith; and one brother, Charles Richard.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home.
