FRANKLIN – Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Triune Church of God In Christ, 1126 Barrow Street, Franklin, LA for Mrs. Nellie Green Watkins, 82, who entered eternal rest on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, LA. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette, LA.
Elder Benny J. Druilhet, Pastor of Triune Church of God In Christ, will be officiating the funeral service.
Mrs. Walkins was a faithful and dedicated member of Triune Church of God In Christ where she served as Superintendent of the Sunday School Department, President of the Women’s Department and Mission Department President. She was also a member of the Lafayette District Church of God In Christ.
Mrs. Watkin’s memories are being cherished by: her bonus son, Charles (Pauline) Watkins, Jr. of Fresno, TX; two bonus daughters, Sylvia Richard of Lafayette, LA and Ella Kilchrist (Alton) of Houston, TX; two brothers, Rochester (Lucille) Green of Houston, TX and Larry (Brenda) Green of Franklin, LA; three bonus grandsons, Nicholas and Courtney Richard, both of Lafayette, LA and Trinity Kilchrist of Houston, TX; two bonus granddaughters, Nicole and Sibienne Watkins, both of Fresno, TX; eleven bonus great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by: her husband, Superintendent Charles Watkins, Sr.; her parents, Willie and Sedonia Cage Green; four brothers, Willie, Jr., Lester, Milton, and Baby Brother Green, her adopted brother, Clarence Batiste; two sisters, Elvira Green and Patricia Green Avery; niece/daughter, Keesha Green and three bonus grandchildren, Damien Watkins, Phylicia Richard and Kaya Kilchrist.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 11, 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at Triune Church of God In Christ. Words of condolences may be expressed at fordandjosephfh.com

Aww Mrs. Nellie I just found out you went to meet our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. What an honor and a privilege that God gave you to my family for such a short time to go and pray for you at the nursing home. The Obituary is a wonderful testament of Nellie's life. I remember her from Willow Street High School in Franklin La. She was always kind and had the prettiest smile on her face. My prayers goes out for her family and friends.
