CROWLEY – Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Crowley, LA for Mr. Nelson Joseph Arceneaux, 101 years old, who entered eternal rest on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Ochsner Acadia General Hospital in Crowley, LA. Interment will be in South Crowley Cemetery in Crowley, LA.
Fr. Mark Odoguje will be officiating the funeral mass.
Mr. Arceneaux was a member of St. Theresa Catholic Church, where he faithfully served for many years as an Altar Server, Eucharistic Minister, and Lector. He was a Veteran of the United States Army who served in World War II and a member of American Legion Post 506 for over 76 years. He was also a Life member of Knights of Peter Claver Council 51 and a (4th Degree Knight) , a member of St. Joseph Society, Scout Master of the Boy Scouts of America, first Black Eagle Scout Master, first Black Acadia Parish Police Juror.
Mr. Arceneaux’s memories are being cherished by: his two sons, Frederick Arceneaux Sr and Audley Will Jack, both of Crowley, LA; three daughters, Jonetta Arceneaux and Mary Ellen Arceneaux (Charles Hibbler), both of Crowley, LA and Betty Lloyd (Lindsey) of Texas, and a host of relatives and friends.
Mr. Arceneaux is preceded in death by: his wife, Stella Henny Arceneaux; his parents, George and Edith Arceneaux; four brothers, Whitney, Wilmer, Peter and Preston; two sons, Tony Jack and Wendall Jack; one daughter, Jacqueline Corbins; one granddaughter, Angelique Ledet; two grandsons, Ryans Corbins and Frederick Arceneaux, Jr.; and one great grandson, Jamond Ledet.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 10, 2023 from 8:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 417 West 3rd Street, Crowley, La.
