Obituary For Rev. Nelson Ray Harrison, Sr.

OPELOUSAS – Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 at St. Amy Baptist Church in Opelousas, LA for Rev. Nelson Ray Harrison, Sr., 47, who entered eternal rest on Monday, October 20, 2025 at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, LA. Interment will be in Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.

Pastor George Harrison will be officiating the funeral service.

Rev. Harrison’s memories are being cherished by: his loving wife of 19 years, Cornelia Harrison of Opelousas, LA; his parents, Rev. George and Rose Harrison of Opelousas, LA; one son, Nelson Raytreven Harrison, II of Baton Rouge, LA; three daughters, Fredmonecia Pickney and Nellayshia Deshelly Harrison, both of Opelousas, LA and Deza’Ray La’Shon Simmons of Texas; one brother, Clark (Delsie) Harrison of Houston, TX; four grandchildren, Malik Rashad Comeaux, Jr., Mason Ray Joseph Comeaux, Jalani Bre’Shae Mack and Jori Shaprella Mack; and a host of aunts, uncles, Godchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by: his daughter, Alyiah Harrison; three brothers, Hilton Harrison, John Ray Harrison and Robert Lee Harrison; one sister, Barbara Gail Harrison; mother-in-law, Joyce Z. Pickney; maternal grandparents, Johnny and Henrietta Benjamin West; paternal grandparents, George and Amy Harrison; two uncles, Benjamin West and Johnny West, Jr.; one aunt, Zetta West Edward; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Morrison.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 28, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA.
