OPELOUSAS – Funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 15, 2023, at Community Chapel Church of God in Christ in Opelousas, LA for Mr. Roderick Dewayne Jones, Jr., 15, who entered eternal rest on Friday, June 30, 2023, at Ochsner Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette, LA. Interment will be in Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.
Prophet Christopher Lazard, Spirit of Elijah LIC, will be officiating the funeral service.
Roderick’s memories are being cherished by: his mother, Taneisha Richard (Marvin Hollier) of Opelousas, LA; four brothers, Braylon Jones, Caleb Edwards, Christopher Edwards and Kynan Edwards, all of Opelousas, LA; three sisters, Bri’Oshanay Jones, Nyla Jones and Kaylin Edwards, all of Opelousas, LA; paternal grandparents, Carl Tezeno, Sr. of Angola, LA and Patricia Jones Brown (Willie) of Lafayette, LA; maternal grandmother, Mary L. Richard of Opelousas, LA; uncles, Cedrick Hardy of Romania, August Lazard, Jr., Tywon Lazard and Carl Tezeno, Jr., all of Opelousas, LA and Ryan C. Lazard of Houston, TX; aunts, Jermeisha Richard, Mary Richard (Jocquell), Samantha Coleman, Ebony Martin and Schemeka Allison (Jeff), all of Opelousas, LA, Carla Jones (Ronald) of Lafayette, LA, Christina Henry (Stewart) of Humble, TX and Tihechaca Culbert (Clarence) of Michigan; a special great aunt, Denico Dauphine Vallier (Damon) of Carencro, LA; special friends, Broderick “BJ”, Jr., Raymar Ghorman and Markeith Bryant; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Roderick is preceded in death by: his father, Roderick Jones, Sr.; maternal grandfather, August Lazard, Sr.; paternal great grandparents, Valrie Jones, Sr. and Gloria Jones; maternal great grandparents, Jerry Hardy and Nettie Nevills; aunt, Erica Jones; and cousin, Kobi White.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at Community Chapel Church of God in Christ.
