OPELOUSAS –Viewing service will be held on Friday, August 7, 2020 from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. for the IMMEDIATE FAMILY ONLY at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA for Ms. Shirley Mae “Red” Collins-Mitchell, 82, who entered eternal rest on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at UHC in Lafayette, LA. Graveside service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.
Rev. Gregory LaDay, Sr., Pastor of Greater First Apostolic Church, will be officiating the graveside service.
Ms. Collins-Mitchell leaves to cherish her memories: two sons, Larry James Mitchell (Elnora) of Beaumont, TX and George Gregory Mitchell (Theresa) of Opelousas, LA; three daughters, Gloria Lewis (Edward) of Missouri City, TX, Felicia Simien (John) and Latishia Freeman-Baker (Travis), both of Opelousas, LA; two brothers, Clarence "Pop" Collins and Peter Castille, both of Opelousas, LA; one sister, Lucille Collins-Jones of Opelousas, LA; fifteen grandchildren; thirty great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by: her parents, Felix and Alice Brown-Collins; four brothers, Walter Collins, Leroy Collins, Joseph Collins and Richard Castille; and four sisters, Gustavia Bowers, Lillian Williams, Willie Mae Weston and Clara Tyler; one grandson, Donald James Jolivette, Jr.; and one son-in-law, Terone Lee Freeman.

Momma I miss you sooo much. I just want you to know that I am ever so grateful for God giving you to me to be my mom. I couldnt have asked for better.
