OPELOUSAS – A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 14, 2025 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Opelousas, LA for Mr. Thomas Jones, 70, who entered eternal rest on Monday, March 10, 2025 at Tri-Community Nursing Home in Palmetto, LA. Interment will be in Garden of Memory Cemetery in Opelousas, LA.
Fr. Justin Arockiasamy, S.V.D. will be officiating the funeral mass.
Mr. Jones’ memories are being cherished by his sister, Theresa Williamson of Opelousas, LA; one God son, Matthew Jones, Jr. of Lafayette, LA; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, Lee Jones and Gertie Sam Jones; one brother, Matthew Jones, Sr.; one sister, Geneveive Jones; one nephew, Mark Wayne Jones; and one niece, Charlotte Green.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Ford and Joseph Funeral Home. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m.

To the Sam and Jones families Angels have lifted another God fearing relative of mine to the Heaven-Thomas Jones is my Mother Remanuel Sam Holliers first cousin my Grandfather Tarlton Sam and Thomas's Mother Gertie Sam Jones were sister and brother- I remember how Big Momma our grandmother who is one of Thomas's favorite Auntie's would allow him to visit her in Lake Charles she loved Thomas and we he would call her and say he catching the Greyhound Bus heading to Lake Charles she would prepare him one of his favorite dishes-His Aunt Edna really lived him, we last saw Thomas June 26th 2023 when we buried my Mother one of his favorite first cousin's-I could write about Thomas all day we know his soul is up above in the heavens rest assured King Thomas as i called him when he came to Lake Charles we all be there tomorrow and Holy Ghost Catholic Church will be rocking in your spirit with the Most High
Thomas was teased by several people and he would clap back very well! "Food is my weakness", especially, Billy's boudin! He loved going to the Claver Lodge to be with his fellow Knights, who entrusted him to work the bar, as he was not a drinker. Rest In Peace.

He loved his salads and took great joy in his walks—he truly embraced life. He was always so well-dressed and carried himself with such grace. He will be remembered

Thomas Jones grew up next door to our grandparents in Opelousas on Perry Lane. He was a true friend to our family and the epitome of the definition of neighbor. May he rest in the arms of the angels. May the love of God and the peace of the Lord Jesus Christ bless him and console his family R.I.P.
