Years ago our family was in the Tift General emergency room with a family member experiencing a very serious medical emergency. I had never been in that part of the hospital before. At 10 years old, I was frightened beyond belief... shaking with fear and worry for my family member. All of a sudden, a feel these big arms give me the best Dad hug I ever had. I can still hear his deep, gentle voice telling me as I sobbed: It's gonna be alright, honey. It's gonna be alright. I never forgot the gentle confidence in his words and warm embrace. He was a Dad... he knew. My Mom saw this and proudly said: Amos is one of my former students; he's a good one. She, Anne Bell, taught him chemistry at ABAC. 46 years later, I cherish that feeling of peace given to a scared young girl by a gentle loving Dad, Amos Kimbrough. Kurt, you and your family are in my prayers. Peace to you all.

My condolences go out to the Kimbrough family. Amos was a wonderful and caring man. He loved and cared for people. Amos cared about how his neighbors were doing. When I had my surgery he was at my house to make sure I was doing what I needed to do, and when my husband got sick and needed bandages changed he was here every day to change them. Amos would get upset if I had started before he came. I also was with Amos at Mott Litmans precinct, he came and talked with me about being manager and wouldn't take no for an answer.Amos saw in me what I didn't see. Amos will be missed and have been missed on Pecan Street. With sincere condolences to the Kimberough. My prayers are with you. Betty Willis
