I worked with Mr Ben for around 3 years at the first methodist church. Everyday was fun. We would work and laugh and carry on. If I forgot where I worked he would say go out to the sign and read it 😂. He was a great person to be friends with. We will miss him. When I would see him out in town excuse me sir since you are swimming in the deep water as he would say 😂 can you help me out I'm broke. We would laugh so loud. Luv you and miss you. He was proud of me because all I had accomplished. 🙏

Mr Ben! He was the first cool adult in my life. He drove me and friends to & from school everyday for 3 years. He made it fun plus he showed me that it was cool to be kind. My friends and I still speak of those years on AA3 ('80-'82) very fondly, even as recently as a month or so ago. He was a man, a man full of respect, integrity and kindness. He was my "City on a Hill" that I learned so much from...Matthew 5:14 Love you, Ben!

Oh, Daddy Ben. My family away from family. I arrived in Tifton Ga in 2004, scared and alone with my family. This man opened this arms and welcomed me and my family to Tift county. He showed me where the grocery store, townsen, and most of all KFC! We ate KFC every Sunday for the longest😂 I'm really going to miss that warm welcome of "come on in". Whenever I needed something done or someone to fix things, he knew everybody. I just can't imagine when I come back to ole T-town my Mr. Ben wouldn't be there with me some KFC. I light this green candle for you in remembrance of you always out in your yard doing something...... planting, watering the grass or mowing the yard. My fondest and dearest memory of Mr. Ben was going home with my best friend Gaye to visit him and her mom. Let me tell you it was the most warmest,genuine, and loving welcome. I felt like a queen. He treated me as if I was his daughter too as he gave me and Gaye the lecture about being safe when we went out and about that evening.(Felt like little girls being told to try to get back in at a certain time, even though we were grown women with kids, lol).I tell you all he was a man of wisdom, love, faith, and purpose, and I am so honored to have known and loved him.My deepest condolences to Mrs. Rosemary, Bentley, Gaye, Bray, and the rest of the family! I love you all, and Mr. Ben will forever be in my heart!!

"Uncle Ben" as the Hughes and Tabor know him. Uncle Ben became our Uncle on the front porch of my grandparents, grandma Jimmie and granddaddy Love Hughes. My grandma adopt Uncle Ben as her son on the front porch. Uncle Ben would come over and sit on the porch for hours and he and my grandparents would talk about the Bible, community and life in general. As long as I can remember, Uncle Ben loved gardening and shared his vegetables with the neighbors. He was a great neighbor. He also loved a pretty yard. And so did my dad. I remember my dad winning what back then was called, Tift County beauty spot of the month. Uncle Ben would always tease my dad he was going to get it the next month. Uncle Ben was not only our uncle he was someone we respected. He took care of his family and always had a kind word to leave you with when you talked to him.
