Ms. Marian "Jean" Brookins was born March 7, 1944, to loving parents , Henry and Nancy (Ellis) Brookins. Marian, also known as Jean, accepted Christ at an early age and joined First Baptist Church (Green Pastures). She was a 1961 graduate of Carver High School and attended Morris College, Atlanta, GA. Marian was a Social Worker for more than 20 years in Cleveland, Ohio. She then moved to Alabama and opened a marvelous daycare in the Green Pastures community, which served the Gadsden area for more than twenty years. Once she retired and moved to Georgia, Marian then worked in the Georgia school system as a teacher. She loved the Lord and joined a spirit-filled Baptist church in Georgia, until her health began to fail. She heeded the Master's call on Tuesday, September 7, 2021, in Wetumpka, Al., surrounded by her loving cousins, J'Unis (Cynthia) Bozeman and Juanita Bozeman.
She loved everyone she met and treated them with love and respect. She has hundreds of children that she adored and cared for, and they will truly miss her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Nancy Brookins.
She leaves to cherish her beloved memory; brother, Michael Glenn Brookins of Athens, GA; caregivers and special cousins, J'Unis (Cynthia) Bozeman and Juanita Bozeman all of Wetumpka, Al.; Jean Means of Birmingham, Al. and Johanna Grier of Cleveland, Ohio; niece and nephews, Marlon Harris, Michael Brookins Jr., Whitney Brookins, and Elzele Spears; 16 great nieces and nephews; special sister Teresa Ann Spears Brooks; and a host of beloved relatives and friends.
