On June 30, 1962, God entrusted Mary George Cooley with a bouncy bubbly baby boy who was given the name of Kelvin Terrence Cooley. His uncle Charles gave him the nickname of "Doc" along his journey. Kelvin was born in Hobson City, Alabama and grew up on Jones Hill. Kelvin grew up under the watchful eyes of his mother, surrounded by his brother, grandparents and extended family members. He grew in love and admonition of God and at a young age joined the New Hope Baptist Church under Rev. Judge L. Stringer where he participated in many church activities. In later years he returned to New Hope Missionary Baptist Church under Rev. Dennis McKinney. He liked visiting Pastor Creflo Dollar at World Changers when he would go to Georgia. He liked watching and listening to Joyce Meyer Ministeries. Kelvin was known for his caring heart; his jovial laugh and his silly jokes. He acquired good work ethics working with his grandmother, Elizabeth Cooley Cleaning Service at Ft. McClellan; Mr. Cleve Hollaway, at Hollaway's Lounge and Ross Handy Mart in Hobson City. He worked at Shoney's in Oxford; Environmental Services at Regional Medical Center and was employed at FITCO in Oxford until an injury rendered him disabled. For several years Kelvin drove his neighbor to dialysis at five o'clock in the morning without having a driver's license. He made his presence known wherever he went. He enjoyed gatherings with family and friends. He loved playing Spades and football boards. He enjoyed caring for children and spending time with elderly people. He was an LA Lakers Basketball fan and an Auburn Football fan. He attended Calhoun County Training School in Hobson City and graduated in 1981 from Oxford High School, Oxford Alabama. Math was his favorite subject. He enjoyed figuring out how things worked.

On Saturday, February 25, 2023, Kelvin answered his Master's call at Diversicare of Oxford, Alabama.
